Fairway Honors NY Veteran With Mortgage-Free Home

The American flagA Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch and real estate agents in the Long Island, New York area recently held an event to honor a local veteran and present him with a fantastic surprise. Thinking he was there to speak at the event, where real estate agents were being trained to handle the home-purchase needs of active duty and military veterans, U.S. Marine Kevin Palacios was shocked when he learned what was in store for him.

Kevin is a veteran, a Purple Heart recipient and single father who was injured twice by IED blasts while deployed in Afghanistan. The 30-year-old had no savings or credit history upon his return home from active duty, and, like with so many other veterans, homeownership did not seem possible. However, thanks to money raised by The Fairway Foundation, Fairway was able to change Kevin’s life by providing him with a fully remodeled, furnished, mortgage-free home!

Dean Camastro of the Interior Design Society of Long Island commented:

“Brand new bathrooms, a brand-new kitchen, blinds, paint, flooring, furniture, you name it, it’s literally an entire home remodeled.”

Kevin could not have been more grateful for the gift. He said:

“I’m shocked. I’ve always dreamed for this. I have a home, I have my safe zone, and I get to see my son grow up.”
