A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in the Gainesville, Virginia-area partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a local veteran. As part of this event, the Fairway branch held a residential housing “boot camp” to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to best handle the home-purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
The honoree at the event was a 30-year U.S. Air Force combat veteran, who was given a service dog to assist in his everyday life. He was also presented with a home renovation/family grant of $10,000.
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
