The type of siding on your home plays a huge role in determining the home’s style and overall curb appeal. When it comes to siding, there are many options of different qualities and price ranges. Here are some of the most popular types of home siding:

Brick Siding – Brick is the most traditional home siding option for homeowners. Brick is durable, low-maintenance and comes in a variety of colors but can be expensive to buy and install. Brick siding is often found on Colonial, Tudor and English cottage-style homes.

Wood – Commonly seen on bungalows, Cape Cod homes and cottages, wood siding is very durable and versatile and can be painted or stained any color. Wood siding is easily installed, making it a less expensive option than some others. Painting or staining the wood will require maintenance every couple of years to keep it fresh.

Stone – Stone siding can be natural or fabricated, and it gives an upscale appearance to a home. Much like brick, stone is highly durable and available in many colors but can be expensive to purchase and install.

Stucco – Popular on the West Coast, stucco is made of cement, lime, water and sand. It is usually colored in earth tones. This type of siding is very durable and usually low maintenance, but due to the nature of its installation, it can be expensive.

Vinyl Siding – As the most popular home siding option in the United States, vinyl siding is an inexpensive and versatile option that is available in a variety of colors and patterns. Vinyl is lightweight and easy to install but less durable than some of the other siding options.

Fiber Cement – This type of synthetic siding can resemble brick, stucco or wood but comes at a lower cost. Fiber cement is low-maintenance, non-flammable and resistant to termites, making it a popular siding for many homeowners.
